Since the release of the movie Kora has not been able to talk about anything other than having a Frozen party....when it came down to planning I found out that my cousin was also planning a frozen party for her daughter who has a birthday just a week and a half before. So, we joined forces! We made it a double Frozen party and it was such a blast and the birthday girls LOVED sharing their day!
Morgan had really wanted a 'wedding cake' for the party. This cake took me SO LONG to make. I spent the entire day before the party making this cake....it wasn't perfect but the girls loved it. The topper was Olaf made out of fondant. I was SO nervous to attempt to make this, but just had no luck finding a topper that I liked and was what I had in mind.

Queen Elsa and Princess Anna made a very special stop in at the party! The kids were giddy (and hilarious!) with joy. It was so fun to watch all of them as they were given special crowns (and reindeer antlers for the boys), read a story and did sing along and played games. It was so fun! They hardly even noticed that the power had gone out in our house during this time.....but, as it got darker that forced us to do pictures outside where it was rather chilly.

I am a little obsessed with anything jute and burlap these days! I made a jute wrapped container recently that I thought I would share. I had been collecting formula cans and a few hot chocolate containers for some time now. I was just waiting for a good project to come along, and it did!

Here is what you need:

Empty Container
Jute (I personally like it to be the thicker kind)
Hot Glue (Lots of it!)
Glue Gun

Here is a before picture of my container that I used. This is a formula container - the Kirkland (Costco) brand.

To start I just add a dab of hot glue to the very bottom of the container and place the end of my jute rope on top of the glue. I allowed it to glue a minute. Then I continue to put a line of the hot glue all along the bottom, but only doing about 2 inches worth at a time. The glue will harden and dry quickly so don't put to much on at a time.

I just continue this motion going all around the container. I ran the tip of the glue gun right up to the top of the row of jute and made sure there were no gaps in the rope. You will go through lots of hot glue so be sure to have plenty on hand.
Back in December we celebrated Kora turning 4. Kora's current favorite Disney Princess is Ariel so that was her top pick for a party theme this year. I wanted to make it feel more like an 'under the sea' whimsical theme rather than over the top Ariel. I used tiffany blue and pearl white as the color theme with accents of pink.

I designed the invitations myself. I used my silhouette to cut out the seaweed and sea horse to give it that extra touch.

Kora was so excited to welcome all her guests to her 'mermaid lagoon'. She could hardly wait for everyone to arrive!
As each guest arrived they were able to go into the 'Mermaid Salon'. In the salon there was a tutu for each girl, a coordinating headband and pearl necklace. They also were treated to a manicure and makeup (big thanks to my sister Trisha and our friend Rebecca for being our stylists!).

After they were all dolled up the mermaids were invited to do a craft. They made Ariel Snowglobes! I had found ariel cupcake topper figurines that fit perfectly on the inner party of the baby food jar lid. I used hot glue (which didn't end up working that well - a few days after the party ariel came loose. Maybe E5000 glue would work better?) to attach ariel to the lid. Then each girl got to fill the jar with their choice of glitter and various small sea shells. I then added tap water to each jar and screwed the lid on for them (as TIGHT as possible!). The girls loved them!

Now, one bonus of being married to a chef is that he loves to help out with the food when it comes to party planning! So, I charged him with the task of making kid friendly sushi for the little mermaids. And then for the adults we had realy sushi. I did not get pictures of the sushi he made for the adults (so bummed about that, but it was delicious!) but here are a few of what was prepared for the kids. The close up picture is blurry but I still wanted to include it so you could see better how each plate looked. Each 'sushi roll' was made up of bread, sliced ham, cheese and pickles. Cody then built a tower made out of sliced apples and then filled with goldfish. It was a hit!

I finally got around to snapping pictures of the other mobiles I made for my kiddos. Kora was so excited the day we hung her butterfly mobile up in her room, I love how femanine and sweet it is. Thomas' mobile is the monkey one of course. It matches perfectly with the other decor in his room.
We were super excited! We both had items that we had been making and had mastered so we thought we would share with the world. I got my best friend Mandy to create our logo, we snapped photos of our items and carefully typed out the items descriptions. On February 20th 2010 we opened our shop. When I first listed a few items I thought for sure I would have someone purchase them right away...but weeks passed without any sales. I started thinking about it though and realized - would I buy an item from a shop that jsut opened and showed no (or very little amount) of sales? Nope. I would not.

So I started to wonder how it would ever get up off the ground. But I didn't give up. I pressed on making new designs and listing them. I had a few sales here and there but a lot were from people who knew me and had seen my work in person. I still remember the day that a complete stranger ordered my shoes. I was beyond excited! Just this week we hit 75 sales in our shop! That still doesn't sound like that much when you compare it to shops that have been open for a while or hit success faster than LynnDi Design did, but I am proud of our 75.

I am thrilled with where LynnDi Design is today. We have worked hard to get here. I look forward to what the future holds. I have done many custom shoe orders lately and I love that. I also love that my shoes have been worn in weddings (by the bride and by flower girls) - how amazing to be a part of peoples big day!

If you haven't visited my shop you need to check it out! http://www.etsy.com/shop/LynnDiDesign
Thank you to everyone for your love, support and orders!
He is getting so grown up! He is fully enjoying lots of baby foods now as well as some finger snacks. And boy does he love his snacks! He gets mad a soon as he runs out...our once very patient baby boy is no longer that when it comes to getting solid food into his belly.

Currently he only has the two lower teeth still, but there are 4 (yikes!) that are about to break through, all on the top. Teething four teeth as well as a nasty cold took our happy boy away for about a week. He was pretty miserable and didn't want anything but to be in someones arms, but now that he is more comfortable again he is back to wanting to play and be on the ground.

Speaking of which, he finally has mastered sitting up! Until the last week he would sit up ok but didn't know how to ballance there very well so I couldn't trust him to sit without something or someone around him. He usually would flop himself over so tht he could lay and roll around. But, now that he has mastered sitting up he LOVES it! It is hard to keep that big head up :)

Most of all he is still just as sweet as ever. He has the most gorgeous eyes and long eyelashes (makes Mom jealous!). It is such a blessing to watch Thomas and Kora play and interact together. The other day I came in and Thomas was sitting on the floor but starting to get mad. When I walked into the room Kora was sitting right by him rubbing his back gently and softly telling him "It's ok buddy". I love that. Nothing makes me happier than watching their relationship and friendship develop already.

On Sunday you turned 7 months old. Hard to believe. I can't hardly remember what life was like without you in it. You have brought so much joy into our lives. You hve quickly become Kora's best friend and it is so cute to watch you guys play together now. You love to watch her and she loves to entertain you so that works out great!

You still love your bathtime A LOT. You splash and kick and are super content in there. You officially started solids just over a month ago and you are liking all the new flavors you get to eat now. You most recently have started to eat Mum Mums and you just can't get enough of them!

I thank God daily for bringing you into my life. I love my sweet baby boy, pretty sure I am wrapped around your little finger.

But seriously, who wouldn't get lost in these gorgeous blue eyes!

Opens up the possability of ALL kinds of FUN projects!! I was so excited to try it out! I have a few friends expecting babies in the near future so I decided to try and make personalized burp cloths. I made some similar to this for Thomas a little while back and love the terry cloth on the one side. Here are a few picutes of the finished product.

And you know me, I love me a good party to plan! So, I went to town working on a theme and table decor. I chose the color scheme of red, aqua and white. I fell in love instantly when I started pulling out all kinds of fun paper and fabric in those colors. It is just such a fun color combo. Plus, this gave me a good excuse to put my silhouette to use! I loved the idea of doing a train theme and was able to find an image that would work just perfect for the cupcake toppers and other decor. I also had a William Sonoma train cake pan that I have been dying to use, perfect! Here are a few photos of the food table.
First on the agenda though was to make a few valentine decorations that I have had in my head for a while. I love how both of these things turned out. And the best part was that I was able to just use things I had around the house so these two projects cost me nothing!

For this project I used an old backing to a frame that I had saved from when I made a previous project. I covered the cardboard party with fabric using my trusty ol' hot glue gun (love that thing!) and then went to town making the rolled rosettes with white felt that I had around. I then used a one inch strip of fabric that was red with little white hearts on it (used for the second project below) to add a strip across the top. I then printed up the word 'LOVE' on my computer, glued that on and it was done!

So, these felt balls can be a little time consuming but are just so darn cute! The ones that are red are very simple. I just cut one inch strips of fabric long enough to wrap around the width of the foam ball and left a little over lap. Then wrap the fabric and use a pin to keep it in place. Continue that until it is covered. So simple. I did two different types of white ones. The one on top is 1.5 inch circles cut and then folded into quarters and pinned into the foam ball. Really easy but it just takes time for all the cutting. The ball that is on the bottom is made with 1.5 inch circles that are cut in half. I then wrapped them to look like a cone and hot glued them to the foam ball - warning, dangerous! I only burned my finger once, thank goodness, but yowza....no joke it is **hot** glue!!

You turned 3 years old this month! Wow, it is so hard to believe you have officially passed up the toddler stage and have entered the preschool stage. You amaze me on a daily basis. We have definitely figured out that you have your Dad's amazing memory, it is hard to believe the things you can remember and do at such a young age. We read you a book just one time and the next time you look at that book there are certain phrases or sentances from the book that you remember perfectly.

You have a ton of sponk and personality. You make us laugh and bring us so much joy every day. We love to watch you with your baby brother Thomas. You call him 'bud' (which you picked up from Mommy) and it is so cute. You love to color, dance (you took your first Ballet class this year!), read, watch movies (you love all things Disney Princess), paint with water colors and play games.

Favorite Kora sayings:

Warm Coconut (translation: Hot cocoa)
My feelings hurt (translation: Tummy Ache)

When I reflect back on the day that you arrived into our world I remember very vividly how you were called a 'miracle baby' by the doctor who delivered you. What we did not know when I was pregnant with you was that you had a condition in which your umbilical cord was not deeply rooted into the placenta. This can be extremely dangerous during the pregnancy and delivery as the cord could have become unattached to the placenta. As I held you, my miracle baby, tears streamed down my face and I thanked God for giving me the honor of being your Mom. I know God has big plans for your life. A life that I am so thankful to be apart of. We love you beyond words miss Kora.

Keep making us laugh baby girl,
I made her a mobile to match the decor in the nursery. She picked out an adorable navy blue and lime green bedding that had little alligators on it. So, I ran with that theme. I used my silhouette machine to cut out the shapes in different cardstock paper that I had to match the colors. I then used an old wreathe ring that was made out of wire and wrapped it with coordinating ribbon. I used clear thread and put a clear bead at the end of each strand to weight it down and then went to town threading each shape on there. I thought it turned out pretty cute! I made a few others during that same time frame, more pictures to come!
Part of that transition was changing her bed, moving out the changing table and replacing it with her toys. But I had also been wanting to create a reading area....or as Kora calls it 'her fort'. I used pvc piping to build the frame for it and then sewed a cover for it. I also made a pillow that would fit the bottom of it so it would be nice and cozy. I love how it turned out!
She is in love with the movie Tangled and it was a lot of fun to plan out the theme. This was Kora's first 'friends' birthday party so I really wanted to make it special. I have literally had this theme in my mind for over 6 months so I am quite releaved to now have it all put into action. Here are a few of the things that we did to make this day fun.

Cody made this awesome sign that we hung on the front door for the party! Didn't it turn out great?! I was so impressed. Him and I tag teamed making that long braid - I definitely needed assistance braiding something that long. But I loved how it turned out! I ended up with it being too long so we used part of it on the table where the girls sat for lunch and the craft.

For each of the girls I made them their own personal crayon roll (made with adorable Tangled fabric!!). I wanted to have a coloring activity when they arrived and had been trying to think of an organized way to have crayons out for the girls. Their own personal set worked out great! Plus, they are actually pretty easy to make. I spent about $6 on the fabric and $3 total for the princess crayons (I put 10 in each of the girls crayon rolls). Worked out to be less about $1 for each child, not too bad!

So, when the girls arrived they each had their own spot to sit at - each spot had their own personal goodie bags, crayon rolls, and their personalized color pages. For the color books I just printed up pages that I found online and then printed their own personal covers. I used the yarn that I had to bind the pages together. Total cost is whatever the little amount of paper costs! Less than $.20 each!

The food table. On the menu: apples (since Maximus in the movie loves apples!), jello cups with little orange 'boats' floating in them (made to look like the scene in the movie where Rapunzel and Flynn go out in the boat), veggies and grilled cheese sandwiches. I used my beloved silhouette SD machine to cut out that letters and flags for the Happy Birthday banner - loved how it turned out!

Of course it would not be a Tangled party without a tower cake! So I used cupcakes to create the tower and then an ice cream cone covered in frosting to creat the roof of the tower. I put silk flowers on each of the cupcakes around the bottom. I think the silk flowers were my biggest expense, good thing they are

re-useable! I also had found these adorable tulip looking cupcake wrappers that wilton makes, so fun!

I had it in my mind that I wanted to make a unique favor for them. So, I used stuff I already had to make these adorable scrabble tile necklaces for each of the girls. I purchased the images from a shop on Etsy for about $2 and the necklace chains as well for about $5 from a supplier on Etsy - so for $7 I was able to make 10 necklaces and then also made 10 extra charms so each girl got an extra charm!

One of the games we played was pin the fry pan on Flynn Rider. I had seen this idea from another blog so I went with it! So fun! I used an overhead projector to help me trace the Wanted poster that is featured in the movie. It was really easy and turned out great! Then I printed fry pans here for each of the girls. We printed their names on them, blind folded them and the person that got it closest to his nose got a prize!

As each girl arrived we took their picture with our good ol' iphone. We then used the Tangled app to insert Pascal onto each of the girls shoulders and the Tangled logo.
You are 5 months old, wow! Time since you have joined our family has gone so quickly. You had a very busy month! You decided you like to roll over. You don't always make it all the way but you are sure figuring it out quickly! You also took your first plane ride this month! You did great on the plane. You came with Mommy down to Sacramento to see Mandy and Nick and meet their new little boy Ben. You guys are destined to be best friends!

About a week ago we started you on rice cereal. You aren't a big fan of it yet. You seem to not know what to do with the stuff once it is in your mouth. I'm sure you will figure that one out quickly though.

We also celebrated your first Thanksgiving and did a trip to Zoo Lights. You loved looking at all the lights as we walked around. It was a bit cold but you were nice and bundled up!

You continue to be a happy boy, you love to watch your sister, you love to be talked to, you love your carseat and you laugh when we kiss your neck.

Love you my sweet baby boy!

We went to his 4 month doctors appointment on Halloween so he was all decked out in his Tiger costume. It was so cute! This post is really late but I atleast wanted to get a picture up. He weighed in that day at 16 lbs 15 oz, yikes! He is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. He is my growin' boy!

Kora dressed up like Tinkerbell and she made the perfect one! She was adorable in her green dress that I made for her. I made little pom poms out of yarn to attach to a pair of green shoes she already had. Turned out great! She was very excited to be Tinkerbell!
What you need:

Glass jars
orange tissue paper
mod podge
black construction paper
paint brush

First, cut 1 inch strips of orange tissue paper the length that will cover from the top of the jar to the just under the bottom. Then dilute the mod podge - 1 part water to 3 parts mod podge. Brush the mixture onto the jar and place the strips of tissue paper over it. Cover the entire jar this way. Then cut out your jack-o-laterns face with the black construction paper and attach to jar. Last you will want to brush a coat of the mod podge mixture over the entire jar. Let dry over night, then put a lit tea light in it and enjoy! The Meyer Residencehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14908492788940784317noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2557555647032881892.post-50836918403654474192011-10-12T11:47:00.000-07:002011-10-12T11:47:51.855-07:00Thomas James - 3 months old

Thomas,

You are a delight. You are precious. You are funny. You are happy. You are my world.

You have really started to develop a personality in the last month. You laugh and smile at things - especially at your older sister, she can make you smile really big. You are very ticklish, I discovered this by accident one night when drying your armpits after a bath. I was shocked when the little belly laugh sound filled the room. I laughed out loud with you. Now you still laugh a lot when I am getting you dressed - I think your 'spot' is your neck and upper back.

You have eyes for people. You like to have someone to look at and get sad when you are left without a familiar face or someone to talk to.

You are growing like a weed. I am not sure what you weigh these days but I am sure you have surpassed doubling in size from the time you were born. I had to pull out clothes that are 6 months in size already, yikes!

You love to watch your mobile in your crib and get really sad when it stops 'singing' to you.

You kick your feet like crazy. This creates a bit of a mess at bath time these days. Those feet sure do make that water splash out of your baby bath.

You found your voice! And it can be loud. But it is adorable. Your little squeels fill our home and I love it.

You were dedicated to the Lord on September 25th. It was a special day. Pastor Thomas spoke great words over your life, annointed your little feet, hands and ears with oil, and prayed over your life. Your daddy and I look forward to teaching you about the Lord that we believe and trust in. There are big things ahead in your life!

Thank you for being such a swet little man in my life.

I love you buddy,
It just has never been one that I look forward to or want to really get into. I don't like scary costumes and spooky things and the way the world portrays the holiday is just evil. But, there are aspects of the holiday that I enjoy - like carving pumpkins, corn mazes and pumpkin patches, the kick off of Fall, and picking out cute outfits for my kiddos to wear.

The other thing I admit is that I play BUNCO....and I love it, a lot. Us girls get together once a month, laugh a lot and have a great time! This month was my turn to host and I got a little carried away....but doing a halloween themed treat station was just way too much fun!

I used a black and orange color scheme - very classic Halloween colors. I gave it a retro feel using the polkadots thourghout and striped paper straws (which I love by the way - the paper straws come in a variety of colors and just add this little touch of fun to every beverage).

Mini Cheesecakes - I used the no-bake cheese cake mix you can buy at the grocery store. It is a very easy recipe to whip up and is so fun in the mini version! Plus, who doesn't love a personal sized cheese cake in a polkadot cup!?!

On Friday August 26th, 2011 my Grandpa Albaugh went to be with the Lord. It still remains difficult to think that he is really gone from this earth. So badly I just want to be able to give him one more hug and to sit and have a nice chat with him. He had one of the world’s sweetest smiles and sense of humor. He loved God and his family more than anything in this world and was truly a walking example of God’s grace.

The night that he passed away I sat and through teary eyes I read through a memory book that was compiled 3 years ago as a gift for Grandpa at Christmas time. It was full of notes from each of my cousins and also photos of years past. Reminded me of how blessed I am. As I read each page I loved hearing all the things each of my cousins wrote about Grandpa and Grandma. We all have so many fond memories of our childhood with them as well as moving into our adult lives. They had a way of making each of us feel special. They impacted all of our lives and I know we are all so incredibly sad to not have them here with us. The days following his passing he became famous on Facebook. I loved reading all of people’s posts about him. So many incredible words spoken about him – you definitely felt the impact he had on everyone’s lives that knew him.

I know that Grandpa is now walking Heaven’s golden streets (probably holding Grandma’s hand) but it is still so difficult to think that I will never again see him walk into church, hug my kiddos, laugh, smile, worship the Lord, read his Bible, and fall asleep in his chair. He is going to be missed so terribly. I know in a few weeks when we have Thomas dedicated to the Lord I will for sure miss looking out into the congregation at church and seeing him there. But I know he will be smiling from above.

The day that Grandpa passed I was talking to Kora (2 ½ years old) about him. When I mentioned Great Grandpa she told me that he was sick and needed medicine, a nap, and some food and he would be all better. You have to love the innocence of a child. If only it was true though… but instead we had to receive the notice that on Friday night at 9:40pm Grandpa took his final breaths.

Love you Grandpa, thank you for all the incredible memories you left us with. I will always shake plastic Easter eggs expecting money in them, miss getting the random gifts that the grab-bag provided at Christmas, miss your amazing grilled cheese sandwiches and popcorn, and think of you whenever I eat ice cream (his absolute favorite thing and also his last meal on earth)…. but most of all I will never forget your smile.

You are exactly two months old as of today. These past two months have gone way too quickly. You are changing so incredibly fast that I am afraid to just blink an eye. You are as cute as ever and just the sweetest little baby. Your smile melts my heart every time....I am officially wrapped around your tiny little finger.

You went to the doctor a few days ago for your two month check-up. Of course you had to get shots but you were tough about it. A tiny little cry when they first poked you but then you were over it. They weighed and measured you....you are already 12 lbs and 13oz, yikes! You are definitely healthy!

Here are some things I know as of right now:

-Your sister loves you very much. She calls you "my Thomas" and always needs to keep tabs on where you are and what you are doing.

-You absolutely LOVE bathtime. Pretty sure you would be content to hang out in the tub all day long.

-You like to be swaddled.

-You make the cutest grunty noises and are now starting to laugh and coo...so cute.

-You don't like a wet diaper.

-You usually like to stay awake in the car - you definitely did not take after your daddy with this one!

-You have a strong neck, you like to keep that head held up high and look around.

-You love to be carried around in the baby carrier - especially on Mommy's chest...usually puts you right to sleep.

-You love going on evening walks laying in the jogging stroller right next to your sister. You are famous for falling asleep about halfway through.

Thomas you have changed our lives forever and we absoultely adore you. I love watching you grow and develop and I am so excited to be your Mommy. I know God has big plans for your life and I love that I get a front row seat to watch it all unfold.

Love you my chunky monkey!
He weighed in at 8lbs and 6 oz and was 21 inches long.

It is hard to believe that he is a week old already! We are loving him and his snuggles. Although, we of course are working out some of the newborn fussiness issues right now and praying that we can get his little tummy feeling better soon here!

Kora is adjusting well to being a big sister. We have seen some behavior changes in her and she has started acting out a bit as a way to get our attention. But overall she is doing well and loves Thomas. She loves looking at him and giving him kisses.

The delivery went fairly well. I was in the early labor stage for 2 full days with contractions that were about 4 minutes apart. On the second day of this early labor stage we went to the hospital at about 6pm - we were there in the triage room for 2 hours waiting to see my doctor - when she finally was able to come and check me she said I was actually leaking amniotic fluid and so they were going to admit me! Wahoo! By 10:30pm that night I was on pitocin to speed up my contractions. Things progressed fairly quick at first and before I knew it I was having very painful contractions and Cody's birth coaching skills were getting put to a big test! My doctor came in and wanted to completely break my water, once this was done I was more than ready to get my epidural. About an hour later I was feeling a lot more comfortable. I was able to rest a bit from about midnight to 2am. By 2am I was having some really bad chills and was getting sick to my stomach. They took my temp and realized I was running a fever. They started me on some antiobiotics right away. At about 3:50am my doctor came in to check my progress again and informed me it was BABY TIME, time to push! While she sang the Happy Birthday song, my doctor got all geared up in her baby catching outfit. I pushed through 3 contractions which was less than 10 minutes time and Thomas James arrived at 4:07am! When he arrived they did discover that the fever I had during labor had been passed to him. So they took him to NICU at about 6am to put in an IV and administer antibiotics. He was brought back to us in our recovery room at about 9:30am.They were just being cautious, he ended up fine but they did not want him to have an infection of any kind. We ended up having to stay an extra day in the hospital so that they could finish him out on antibiotics.

Overall, things went really well. I felt like most of his delivery was fairly familiar since I had experienced most of the same stuff when I delivered Kora. Cody was such a huge help during the whole process. He did a great job of holding my hand, helping me breath and keeping me calm. Now that Thomas is here I am reminded once again how good of a team Cody and I make with taking care of a baby. I am so thankful for a husband who dives right in and has such good parenting instincts.
